Wedding Ring Medawar Jewelers-Portage Michigan

This is a personal post about my wedding ring. And out of respect for my husband, he has read this post and has approved it.

On January 25, 2008, my husband and I went out to a fancy dinner at “Bella Notte Ristorante” in Jackson, Michigan.  We were in the balcony seating, by ourselves.  We loved it up there because they had the walls decorated like it was a terrace in Italy.  It’s so pretty and honestly who doesn’t love Italian food!

Nate and I had been talking and it’s so funny because I remember exactly how he proposed ten years ago and two kids less LOL.

We had been talking about our lives together, holding hands across the table when I said something along the lines of “Man, it feels like we’ve been together for forever, and it hasn’t even been a year.”  At that moment Nate got down on one knee and said, “Speaking for forever.” He pulled out the engagement ring and asked me to marry him!

Now, my husband isn’t hasty in deciding anything.  He spent months and went to about 15 different jewelry stores to pick this ring out.

I was so excited, however, the ring was not what I wanted.  I was actually really surprised and a little upset that it was a three-stone. Over the past several months Nate and I had discussed rings and I expressed how much I really wanted a heart diamond.  nothing super fancy but I really wanted to be able to display my love for my marriage by having a heart diamond.  I didn’t think anything about it until I received the three-stone diamond ring.  (There are other personal reasons that this ring was not what I wanted, but I will not go into that.)

I know you are thinking, “How dare Krystal write about how she doesn’t like her ring in a blog post.”  But, I have discussed this blog with my husband and he has read it to make sure that he is okay with what I type.  And, there is a very good reason for my discussing this topic. It took me four years to go to my husband and tell him how I really felt about the ring. I love my husband, I mean L-O-V-E my husband with every ounce of my being.  And I never want to hurt him, and I know as gently as I put it.  I did, hurt him.

Fast forward 9 years, and 303 days. In December 2017 when I woke up one morning, I looked at my engagement ring.  And one of the smaller diamonds was gone.

My heart was completely broken. I cried.  A lot. Here was this item, that I had worn on my finger for almost 10 years.  Every single day. And part of it was missing.

Part of me was missing.

We had discussed upgrading my ring after so many years, and I thought I wanted to take the diamonds out of the ring and just rearrange the diamonds and add a heart diamond.  But that moment when I had lost a diamond, I realized the importance of this ring.

It’s not the ring, the metal, the jewels, the color, the shape, it’s not about any of that. And here I had spent so many years disliking this thing on my finger because of the way it looked.  But here’s the cold hard truth.

This ring has experienced everything I experienced from day one with my husband.  Births, deaths, fights, constructions, illnesses, doctor visits, career change, moves, business start-up and so many other moments that have fleeted by without any trace.

But they did leave a trace.

On my heart.  And I wear my heart on my left, Ring, Finger!

So, it took ten years for me to realize that I had been quite blind when I received my engagement ring.  And it’s ok.  Because that’s what life is all about, is finding what means the most to you and keeping that around you for as long as possible.

Now, Medawars of Portage, Michigan took very good care of me. Since my husband had purchased the ring from them.  And even though it has been damn near ten years since the purchase.  They fixed the missing diamond, polished, buffed and added Rhodium to the ring to make it stay white gold. The best part is they did it all for FREE!  Thank you Medawars, when I am ready to upgrade I will be going back to you!

Nate and I will be upgrading my ring in the next couple of years.  We have decided to keep this ring, that I wear now the way it was when I received it, and to pass on to our kids.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this blog!

Motivation for Your Monday

Well,  I am kicking the year off right.  Why?!  You ask…  Because I participated in an adoption on January 26, 2017.  And, these are one of my favorite ‘family events’ that I love to photograph.  A family that I have known for a few years and absolutely love them adopted a little boy and girl.  Adoptions hold a special place in my heart.  And anyone who has ever gone through one truly knows it’s struggles, twists, turns and triumphs.  There is nothing like that final court date to take a massive amount of weight off your shoulders.

The day was cold and slightly rainy, but that didn’t put a damper on anyone’s spirits.  Everyone met up at Pizza Hut first to celebrate, eat cake and pizza…  But not in that order 🙂  Family from all over traveled to celebrate with this amazingly beautiful family.  Jordan Michael and Brooklyn Audree found their forever family almost a year ago to date.  The moment they entered Bruce, Jillayne, Lindsee, and Alec’s home they were welcomed with love and joy.  Jillayne messaged me some time ago to inform me of them finding the two children they wanted to adopt and couldn’t wait for me to come capture their moments.

After we celebrated the beautiful day.  We all drove to the courthouse to witness the joining of a beautiful family.  And it was absolutely breath-taking!!  I cried of course, there is nothing more beautiful than a mother’s love for her children.  And that’s all you see from Jillayne is the love she has for her now four beautiful children.

Bruce and Jillayne are amazing people.  Not only do they have a model marriage that others would love to follow.  They are model parents as well.  When I imagine what a family should look like, and how parents should be.  I envision Bruce and Jillayne!

Motivation for Your Monday!!

Today instead of using a motivational saying I decided to use an example of a person instead.  This beautiful woman has ran a successful business from home for the last 5 years and is now breaking into a new field.  She is inspirational, motivational, beautiful on the inside and out.  There are very few people in this world that can change the momentum of a room by just existing.  And she my friends, is one of them!  Kelly has a way with words that motivate you, and ignite the fire within.  And believe it or not this awesome woman is a mom of 3 beautiful kids.

I first met Kelly at a church that the both of us used to attend.  We no longer attend that church but we still stay in contact with one another.  And it has been such a blessing knowing this woman.  Not only does she own her own business, she is one of the most motivating and positive people I have ever met.  She always has something positive to say, and is always there to give positive reinforcement when needed.  She believes in the good of all people and sees it as well.  Kelly is also extremely accepting of everyone.  I believe that being different is what gravitates her to so many people.  She sees the beauty in every situation, whether it’s difficult or not.  And she always comes ahead stronger than before.

When you come across someone like Kelly, you don’t let them leave.  This world is full of so much hate and anger that we could use more “Kelly’s” in this world.  In fact one the greatest qualities that Kelly has is the fact that she doesn’t hide when she needs help.  She doesn’t put this ‘Fake face on’ trying to pretend that everything is ‘perfect’.  Kelly is one of the most real people I have ever met and that makes her one of the most beautiful and amazing people out there.

If you know this amazing woman, let her know how great she is!!!  She deserves it!

Motivational Monday

Some motivation for your Monday morning.  Please feel free to share this to brighten someone else’s Monday morning.  Keep your head up!

To be honest most of the time I have inspirational sayings all over the house.  I need sayings like this to inspire what’s deep within.  When I look at sayings from people that I feel are great, to see what inspired them.  It just inspires me as well.  To know that great people before me needed inspiration as well.  It amazes me how brilliant people can be when it comes to finding the inspiration they need.

I know personally, Monday’s have a tendency to be rough in my household.  We have a hard time adjusting back to the weekly schedule.  We do our best to try and keep the weekend schedule the same as during the week.  However, that’s just not always the case. I started doing ‘Motivational Monday’s’ because sometimes you just need a little extra boost.  I hope that the motivational sayings help you as well!!

Since I needed a consistent posting.  My goal is to have something for everyday.

Motivational Mondays-I plan on posting motivational sayings every Monday to keep myself and others moving.

Tips for Tuesday- I plan to post a video of some tip that I found helpful.  It will be a tip about anything.  Just something that I found helpful

Wordy Wednesday- I plan to post just words on Wednesday.  Just an update of what is going on.

Throwback Thursday- I plan to post photos of my previous clients on Thursdays.

Fun Friday- I plan to post something fun, funny, fun-ish.  I know that my sense of humor may be different than yours.  I hope you like what ever it is that I post anyway.

I hope this brightens your day and makes Monday less Monday-ish!

Please enjoy and feel free to contact me at any time!!!
