Happy Anniversary!!!

Hannah and Kaleb Trash the dress (19 of 43)

Hard to believe it’s already been a year since my first wedding, and my first trash the dress session.  Happy Anniversary to the couple that changed my life, and my career.  Happy anniversary to an amazing couple!!

One year ago Hannah and Kaleb said ‘I do’.  I remember it was supposed to rain and all of a sudden the forecast changed.  Kaleb sent Hannah flowers and a note while she was getting ready at the salon and in it, it said, ‘P.S. No Rain Today’.

I have to admit, this was a very emotional wedding for me.  I cried all day long along side everyone else.  Hannah and Kaleb were surrounded by amazing friends and family.  Their support system is absolutely beautiful!

The wedding took place at Southern Exposure in Battle Creek, Michigan.  The venue was absolutely gorgeous.  All of the flowers were in bloom and amazing property gave us so much to work with.

Hannah’s mom Ellen was such a huge part of her day.  In fact she is the one I met first.  As a mother myself I know how important it is to make sure your kids have everything they need or want.  And, Ellen was right there to save the day several times. The bond that Hannah and Ellen share is a bond I hope to have with my daughter as she gets older.

I wish Hannah and Kaleb all the joy and happiness this world has to offer. They were such a joy to work with, sweet, kind and absolutely wonderful!  It’s amazing how ‘just being the photographer’ in a wedding means so much.  I was there to watch their story unfold.  I was there to capture memories they will cherish and remember forever.

This is why I am a photographer.  This is why I love my career!

Motivation for Your Monday

Well,  I am kicking the year off right.  Why?!  You ask…  Because I participated in an adoption on January 26, 2017.  And, these are one of my favorite ‘family events’ that I love to photograph.  A family that I have known for a few years and absolutely love them adopted a little boy and girl.  Adoptions hold a special place in my heart.  And anyone who has ever gone through one truly knows it’s struggles, twists, turns and triumphs.  There is nothing like that final court date to take a massive amount of weight off your shoulders.

The day was cold and slightly rainy, but that didn’t put a damper on anyone’s spirits.  Everyone met up at Pizza Hut first to celebrate, eat cake and pizza…  But not in that order 🙂  Family from all over traveled to celebrate with this amazingly beautiful family.  Jordan Michael and Brooklyn Audree found their forever family almost a year ago to date.  The moment they entered Bruce, Jillayne, Lindsee, and Alec’s home they were welcomed with love and joy.  Jillayne messaged me some time ago to inform me of them finding the two children they wanted to adopt and couldn’t wait for me to come capture their moments.

After we celebrated the beautiful day.  We all drove to the courthouse to witness the joining of a beautiful family.  And it was absolutely breath-taking!!  I cried of course, there is nothing more beautiful than a mother’s love for her children.  And that’s all you see from Jillayne is the love she has for her now four beautiful children.

Bruce and Jillayne are amazing people.  Not only do they have a model marriage that others would love to follow.  They are model parents as well.  When I imagine what a family should look like, and how parents should be.  I envision Bruce and Jillayne!

Kelly Family Photoshoot!

It’s so amazing when someone is expecting a baby!  I absolutely LOVE pregnant women.  However, I was once pregnant (3 times over) in fact.  And, I know how it can get uncomfortable you want your body back, and want to move.  So, I keep my hands to myself.  I don’t touch other peoples belly’s.  Reason being.  I get all personal and in ‘yo business’ during a photo shoot.  I don’t want to push my limits on groping a belly as well.

We had to break this session up into 2 sessions.  We first did a pregnancy announcement/gender reveal.  Revealing this sweet mama is expecting a baby boy to go along with her already two daughters!  We had so much fun.

The funniest part about the second photo session was the fact that it rained.  No, it DOWNPOURED!  We had to get their photos taken in ten minutes flat and the rain came.  We were able to get the photos done so I was super relieved.  We finally had all the daughters and mom together, looking super cute and the weather decided to not cooperate!

I was just excited to capture beautiful moments like this!  It’s not everyday you have a baby, or have the ability to carry a child.  These moments past so fast, it’s always amazing when you can stop for a moment and enjoy the time you have.

I want to say thank you to this lovely lady, for letting me capture her beautiful moment.  She also participated in a movement I am trying to put together.  Kelly is such a lovely person, if you don’t know her you are missing out!  She lights up the room when she walks in, and has such gentle soul.  She’s not only a great mom, she’s an awesome friend!  And an amazing Zumba instructor!

Words for Wednesday (Uniting Women)

Uniting Women Video

Please click the link above to watch the video created to unite women.

My words for Wednesday are for women.  My words are meant unite, empower, encourage, inspire and bring women from all different backgrounds together.

On October 7, 2016 8 women united together as they were made. In their bra and underwear!  To unite together everyone from all different backgrounds.  It was cold which made it even harder.  However, I have never been more inspired by women in my entire life.  I didn’t know half of the women that joined either.  I sent out a message stating I needed women to join me in a movement.  And, they came.  From near and far these women came together to join me in creating a movement in uniting women.

It’s never easy.  In fact most things worth fighting for are never easy.

We the Women of the U.S.A. need to come together, to join together to help one another.  We need to build each other up. Instead of tear one another down.  When I see a woman, I see her strength, I don’t see judgments.  I see a person who has had to fight to be who she wants to be.  Has had to push against the stream to fight for her family, fight for her place in this world.  When it comes to women we need to help each other.  We need to support each other.  We need to guide each other.  We need to inspire each other.

There has to be a breaking point in the gap in our Society.  There has to be a point at which we say enough is enough.  There has to be a turning point somewhere.  While I do my best to join us together I cannot do it alone!  I need YOU!  I need your support!  Please join the movement!

Words for Wednesday (Pocket Square folding)

So, my words for Wednesday are how to fold a pocket square, or any type of fold for that matter.  It’s been a constant pain at almost every single wedding I have attended, or photographed.  I have attached the link that I like to use for this specific reason.  I also, have learned how to fold them, because they are so complicated.

This past weekend I attended a wedding where I folded all the men’s handkerchiefs.  Honestly, it’s one of my favorite moments.  Watching the men try to figure it out.  Because they all have so much fun, and laugh about how goofy some of the folds are.  It’s quite the bonding experience between the men.  Some get the folds right away.  And, some let others fold their square for them.  One of these days I will have to record it.

It’s really interesting the little intricate details that get missed before the wedding and then when the day comes how simple yet complicated the situation can be.  I have dedicated myself to learn the little things that tend to be an issue on the day of the wedding.  I want to make sure that if you have any issues I can resolve them as fast as possible and the little intricate details don’t get forgotten about.

It is my goal as a photographer to make sure that I can help as much as possible.  This is meant to be one of the best and most memorable days for the Bride AND the Groom.  The last thing I want is for anyone to stress about anything o their special day!

Here is the link check it out, practice and be prepared for your special day!!

Tip for Tuesday on your wedding Day

In the hustle and bustle of putting together wedding there are a few things that go under the wayside.  I’m sure you think ‘Oh my photographer knows what to capture’.  The truth is we like to focus on what matters most to you.  And, that can vary from person to person.  For example.  One of my brides, her father made all of the centerpieces for her wedding.  I would not have known that if I had not asked.

I always ask my brides, ‘are there any significant things you want me to focus on’ or ‘is there a shot list you have?’  When photographers ask that question, they want to know things such as:

  1.  Are there any family heirlooms that will be incorporated in your wedding day?
  2. Are there any people that you may have exceptional relationships with?
  3. Is there anything that has been especially made for your wedding day that you would like me to focus on?
  4. Are there any people that you don’t get to see very often that you would like me to photograph during the reception?
  5. Are there specific poses you would like me to attempt during the getting ready, ceremony, or reception?

Another detail that I ask about is ‘Family Dynamics’.  Are there any divorces, or animosity between any family members that I need to know.  Are there any people you think will be difficult during the photographing of the extended family?

These questions are all very important.

While it is your photographers job to make sure to capture your precious moments.  We do need information to make sure that we can get exactly what you are looking for.

I always go into detail with my clients and ask a lot of questions before hand and request a shot list.  This way when the day comes you don’t have to worry about what will or won’t be captured.

Throw Back Thursday! (Krogel Family)

Throw back Thursday to this beautiful family!!  I am so blessed to be able to photograph these amazing people.  I met the Krogel’s at a church that the both of us used to attend. Jillayne approached me to photograph their lovely family.  Of course I said ‘YES’.  Look how great they photograph! This family is so giving, loving, sharing, kind, generous, motivational and most of all God loving!

It’s not everyday you meet people like this.  This family would give you the shirt off their back.  And the way Bruce and Jillayne look at each other.  The gravitational pull they have towards one another is not possible to duplicate.  Bruce looks at Jillayne like she’s the last woman on Earth.  And, Jillayne looks at Bruce like he made the moon.  These two have a marriage that people need to learn from.  The support they give one another is absolutely amazing!  They are amazing role models when it comes to love, THEY wrote the book.

And their kids!  Just as awesome.  Lindsee is the sweetest, and most motivated young lady!  She is beautiful in the inside and out.  Lindsee will accomplish great things in her life.  Alec, is such a sweet young man.  He loves sports, and has the most gentle heart!  His smile could light up a dark room.  It is such an amazing experience to see young people grow and mature into the adults they will be.  And, to see their potential at such a young age, is a true blessing!

Thank you so much for letting me capture your precious moments!!!!!

This family has so much love for everyone.  I wish more people had their giving nature.  It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet a family like this, and I have been blessed enough to know them!
